The 2024 Annual Service Excellence Awards ceremony that was held last week in Dar es Salaam saw SGA Security receive honours for excellent service in private security.
The awards that were organised by the Chartered Institute of Customer Management, saw the oldest private security firm in the country recognised for the excellence in customer service in the provision of security services in the country.
While receiving the award, the SGA Security Managing Director, Mr Eric Sambu, expressed joy saying the award is a testament that they are executing their strategy in service provision well. He cited the 24-hr customer service centre with emergency lines to support the customers, supporting the emergency response teams distributed to strategic locations in the main cities.
“We have invested in systems and facilities to ensure that customers receive top level services. We have empowered our employees to serve the customers with dedication as this is key especially in sensitive service like security”, he added.
SGA Security was the first private security company to operate in Tanzania and it is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. It employs over 5,000 people in Tanzania, across its extensive branch network and service lines. “Our secret to success in Tanzania is our people. We invest a lot in preparing them to serve our customers and create a conducive environment for them to perform and this has given us tremendous results. I dedicate this award to all of them”, Mr Sambu added.
While officiating at the event, Director of International Trade and Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Ambassador John Ulanga urged all businesspeople to embrace customer service as this was key in sustainability of their businesses. He urged them to invest in technology to improve customer experience and said at the event that the structure of Tanzania’s economy changed significantly 30 years ago.
According to the organisers, the winners for the Tanzania Service Excellence (TSEA) 2023 are chosen through a meticulous process involving online surveys, mystery shopping evaluations, adjudication, and meticulously prepared awards ceremonies. It is the first time this event was happening in Tanzania but it is already in 19 countries in Africa and growing.
